ANNETTE BESANT (nee PEWARCHUK) November 3, 1914 - December 19, 2003 Annette Besant, aged 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Bethania Personal Care Home with her family at her side. Annette was predeceased by her husband Allan Besant in 1966, her daughter-in-law Patricia Besant, her sisters, Rosie Fotiuk, Ann Berzuk, and her brothers Bill, Steve, Jack, Pete, Leon (Lexie), and Fred Pewarchuk. She is survived by her daughter Beverley (Jerry) Philpot and son Fred (Debbie) Besant of East St. Paul; grandchildren Debbie (Darrell) Debroni of East St. Paul, Ken (Lucy) Philpot; Glen (Celina) Philpot, Shelley (Scott)Amos, Sloane (Rory) Newton all of Winnipeg and Randy (Lori) Philpot of England; great-grandchildren Nicole, Braeden, Bryson Debroni; Ryan Philpot; Elisha and Keegan Philpot and Courtney Amos. She is also survived by step-grandchildren Sarah Shannon of Brandon and Sabrina Shannon of Winnipeg. She is survived by her sisters Stella (Ed) Wachal of East St. Paul, Mae (Bill) Shankie of Winnipeg and Sonya (Albert) Robinson of Selkirk. She is also survived by her special niece Elsie Malazdrewich, her childhood and lifelong friend and many other nieces and nephews in the Pewarchuk and Besant families. Moms family meant everything to her. They were her life. Annette was born in Narol, Manitoba to a large Ukrainian family; she lost her mother at an early age and helped to raise her brothers and sisters, especially Mae. She married Allan Besant in 1939, living first in Norwood then in East St. Paul where she resided until recently. As well as raising her family, Annette worked for the Health Supply Centre as a supervisor. When her husband passed on she obtained her drivers license and continued on. Annette was an active member of the East St. Paul Seniors taking part in many trips and other activities. She also enjoyed her weekly Bingo at St. Annes Church. Special thanks to all the staff of Bethania for their special care and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel with interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Viewing at the chapel prior to the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Ken Philpot, Glen Philpot, Darrell Debroni, Scott Amos, Rory Newton and godson Bob Malazdrewich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave. R2K 3S7 or Manitoba Breast Cancer Fund, 675 McDermot Ave. R3E 0V9. Rest in Peace Mom. We love you.
