TERRY GRANT BURGOYNE November 17, 1941 Peacefully on December 21, 2003 at his residence with family at his side Terry went home to be with his parents, Simon and Eva; as well as two of his brothers, Everette and Kenneth. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Marilyn; his children, Wendy Penner (Richard) of Winnipeg, Cindy Alexander (Gary) of Clandeboye, MB, Mindy Brown (Kevin,) of Lorette, MB; grandchildren, Terry, Jocelyn, Keira and Eva. Terry is also survived by two brothers, Ron (Ruth) of Thamesville, ON and Neil (Sheila) of Surrey, BC; brother-in-law Doug Klatt (Gertrude) of Beaconia; sister-in-law Allison Fletcher of England; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Terry had an open door policy at his home, everyone was welcome to stop in anytime for a good joke telling session or a drink of his famous wine or both. Terry was the Plant Manager for Johnson Nut and Confectionery for several years. He was an accomplished woodworker, spending many hours in his shop and was the sole proprietor of Papas Woodcrafts. Terry built almost anything people wanted including, toys and shelves and tables. He gave away plenty of the items he created to charities such as, CancerCare Manitoba, Church Christmas hampers, and the Petersfield Junior Curling Club. Terry enjoyed golfing with his lifelong friend Steve Gregory and sharing techniques and samples with his other wine making friends, although Terry found these things in life to be entertaining his greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren. Even before he had his own biological grandchildren, many others were already calling him Papa. This may be why 16 years ago Terry chose to go to work at the St. James Assiniboia School Division and 10 years later finish his working life with the Lord Selkirk School Division, W.M.S. Patterson School. The last six years of his working life were as Dad described on many occasions, "the best job he ever had". A memorial service in Terrys honour will be held in the St. Georges Wakefield Anglican Church in Clandeboye on December 27, at 2:00 p.m. with The Ven. Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Special thank you to Terrys friends, Shannon Pyziak the Interlake Regional Health Authority, Regional Palliative Care Coordinator, all Terrys home care ladies and to those who came by to say good bye in person. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Palliative Care, Selkirk, MB. At Terrys request cremation has taken place. Terry enjoyed life to its fullest and left this world with no regrets. Good bye Papa We Love You. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
