RICHARD STEPHEN MELNYK It is with great sadness that our husband, father, grandfather, son and brother Richard Melnyk at the age of 56, passed away suddenly at home on December 20, 2003. He was predeceased by his father Stephen and father-in-law Eric. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda; son Eric (Leah) daughter Jennifer and six grandchildren, Amanda, Richard, Christopher, Brendon, Jessie and Corey. His mother Marian (Garth) brothers, Ryan (Janet), Terry (Liz) sister Carole (Philip) mother-in-law Shirley (Doug) brother-in-law Tom (Linda) also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends and comrades. Rick worked over 30 years for Transport Canada later changed to Nav Canada. He made special friendships with several people who even after he retired, have remained friends. A large part of Ricks life was involved with ANAF Unit #60. He served on the executive as sports chairman. He loved being involved with the commroderie of all his fellow comrades and the interaction during all sporting events with all the other clubs in the association. He loved to fish with his son and brothers. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. One big wish was to have his granddaughter Jessie curl with him one day. Rick will be remembered in our hearts forever. He loved to live life to the fullest and was a loving, honest and truthful man. We may not have been given the chance to say our good-byes but in our hearts, we know he knows how much we all loved him and will hold him dear in our hearts forever. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the ANAF Fort Garry Unit #60, 279 Garry St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richards memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
