ELIZABETH (BETTY) ROY (nee POTTINGER) May 10, 1939 - December 21, 2003 Peacefully with her family at her side, Betty passed away on December 21, 2003, at Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg, MB. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Laurent; and her only son Laurent Jr.; also by her brothers, Jerry (Bernice), John (Lorraine), Neil (Hannah) sister Wilma (Wayne) Hodgson; the Roy family brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews and other family too numerous to mention; special friends, Bev and Irvin Lindstrom. Betty was predeceased by her parents Dora and Lawrence Pottinger; sister May Gutnecht; brothers, Leon, Lorne, Dennis, Everett Pottinger; brothers-in-law, Paul Roy, Andy Roy; sister-in-law Susan Roy; in-laws, Josephine and Edward Roy. Betty was born in Eriksdale, MB, raised at Pebble Beach and moved to Eriksdale as a teenager. She met Laurent and they were married October 1, 1965. They moved to Winnipeg where they have resided since. The joy of her life Laurent Jr. was born September 21, 1969. Betty worked very hard for 40 years mainly in the food service industry and also as a homemaker. Until Bettys health prevented her, she enjoyed travelling, camping, cooking, canning, country dances, family gatherings, sports on TV, and she loved to visit. Betty never complained about her health even when her pain and suffering must have been unbearable. She always said "Dont worry about me, everything is going to be okay." She will be missed more than she will ever know. Active pallbearers will be Rose Mayers, Darlene Sulyma, Valdi Johnson, Keith Roy, Ronnie Roy, Gerald Pottinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Pottinger and Donny Wallach. Funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Saturday, December 27 at 12:30 p.m. with viewing to take place at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7, or a charity of ones choice. A special thanks to Dr. Nyhof and the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital for the care given to Betty.
