JOHN FREDERICK NELS JOHNSON (SWEDE) John passed away November 16, 2003 at the age of 77, of Santa Ana, California. John was predeceased by his parents, Freda and John Johnson, his brother Arthur and sister-in-law Yvonne and nephew Joel Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife, Angeleine; his caregiver and sister-in-law, Mary King; his brothers Les (Lorraine) of Tustin, CA, Gerald (Willene) of Winnipeg; sisters, Dorothy (Al) Christie of Winnipeg and Isabel McDennon of Laguna Beach. "Swede" was born December 24, 1925 in West Kildonan. He later, with his family, moved to Bannerman Ave., was a fireman on the C.P.R. from 1945 to 1950. In 1954 he moved to Santa Ana, CA and was employed at Seaboard Finance. In 1957 he married Angie Zelinski. He suffered a stroke in 1978 which curtailed his annual summer trips to Winnipeg. He will be remembered as "Swede" to his friends from his youth at Hoppers Rink and visits to the West Kildonan Legion.
