Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLAUDIA STEVELY (nee REWUCKI) With great sadness, after a short illness, the family wishes to announce the passing of their dear mother, Claudia on Monday, December 22, 2003, at Concordia Hospital, in her 89th year. Mom was born to John and Antonina in Winnipeg on December 18, 1914. She lived in Point Douglas where she attended Norquay School. Mom then went on to work at Winnipeg Electric and later at Hudson Bay Company. Having met a young soldier through family, she and our father were married in 1946 and settled in Elmwood, where she became a stay at home mom to their three children. Once we were all well established in school, Mom went back to work. Mom and Dad liked to travel. At first it was summers at Grand Beach and Thunder Bay where Moms sister lived. We all went to Scotland in 1959 to meet Dads family and they traveled back several times to attend family functions. Together they went to Vancouver, Thompson and Thunder Bay. Mom liked her bingo and slots. Every Friday evening you could find her at No. 9 playing bingo with her friends. For about 20 years Mom and her life long friend Daisy went every February on a junket to Las Vegas. When both Dad and Daisy passed, Mom would holiday with her kids. During the mid 80s Mom travelled to Australia to visit family and stayed three months. Being in her 70s this would be her last long trip alone. But not her last trip, she still enjoyed short trips across the line to casinos and Thunder Bay until 18 months ago. Mom loved life and enjoyed company, family, friends and people who would become friends were welcome in her home. She enjoyed visiting "Her Family," her sisters children in Upsala and Thunder Bay and spent several times in the last few years camping in Upsala. She was a member of No. 9 Legion Auxiliary and Over 55 Club and tried to attend any special events. Mom taught us to love family and each other, to have fun and always be stylish because life is so short. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jimmy; her parents, John and Antonina; her brother Edward; her sister Olga; her son-in-law Gerry and several nieces and nephews. She leaves to mourn her passing, son Malcolm (Mary-Jane) her daughters, Heather and Bonnie; her grandchildren, Tom, Gerald, Claudia (Dennis), Kerri, Conney and Roger; as well as nine great-grandchildren and several members of her husbands family in Scotland. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with Rev. Earl Gould officiating. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
