Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE ANDRUSHIW At the age of 90, Anne Andrushiw passed away at the River East Personal Care Home on Wednesday, December 24, 2003. She will be sadly missed by nieces, Dorothy Hardy, Anna Rogan, Genevieve (Kenneth) Armstrong, Kay Zukowski and Helen Lesyk; nephew Bill (Doreen) Harynuk of Thunder Bay and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Anne was predeceased by husband Wasyl Andrushiw in 1985, parents Stephan and Kateryna (Homeniuk) Piseski, brother Wasyl Piseski, and sisters Maria Hordy and Anastasia (Nellie) Harynuk. Anne was born in Winnipeg on November 15, 1913. The family had recently immigrated to Canada from their home in the village of Kadubivtsi in the Bukovyna region of Ukraine. Through their mutual love of singing and participating in church choirs, Anne met her future husband Wasyl and they were married in 1938. She spent the greater part of her career employed by Hercules Manufacturing as forelady in the sewing factory and she herself was an excellent seamstress. Annes faith was deep and abiding, as she was a very active pioneering member of St. Ivan Suchavsky Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral. For as long as she was able, Anne was a devoted member of the church choir, President of both the Ladies Society of Olha Kobylanska and Sisterhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary, member of the Board of Trustees, St. Ivan Suchavsky Brotherhood and St. Johns Social Club and also a committed volunteer for the churchs Perogy Club. Anne truly viewed the members of the parish as part of her extended family. Though never blessed with children of her own, Anne was a devoted aunt and took great joy in helping to raise her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her fondness of children Anne was a true dog-lover, having formed a deep bond with her own dog Tara and often taking on the role of the family dog-sitter. Despite her vehement protestations to the contrary, she was a wonderful cook who made sure that traditional Ukrainian foods were a part of special family celebrations. Anne also enjoyed spending time tending to both her vegetable and flower gardens. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the River East Personal Care Home for the professional and compassionate care offered during her final years.
