HARVEY JONATHAN WAIT On December 22, 2003 at the Red River Place, Harvey Wait, aged 80 years, of Selkirk, passed away with his wife, Audrey and daughter MaryAnn at his side. Harvey was born and raised in Bowsman, MB and worked on the family farm. When war broke out he enlisted in the Lord Strathconas Royal Horse and fought in Italy and Holland. After he returned home, he met Audrey Meredith and they married in 1947. They moved to Winnipeg where Dad worked as a mechanic and where they raised their family. Dad was a published author of short stories and was also the news letter editor for the Lord Strathconas Assoc. He was an avid scholar and studied until he suffered a stroke at age 52. Dad loved the outdoors, in particular fishing and camping. In later years, Dad and Mom moved to Creston, BC where they lived near Dads sister, Edith. Here they made many great friends and had much happiness in the mountains. Dads health failed a few years ago and they returned to Selkirk to be near the children and grandchildren. Dads home for the last four years has been Red River Place where he had many friends, both residents and staff. The family wishes to thank all the Girls and Guys for their love and care of our Dad, he liked being there. Harvey leaves surviving his wife of 57 years, Audrey; his six children, MaryAnn (Gary), Allan, Carol, Cameron (Bev), Glenn (Cheryl) and Stuart; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Anne and a stepfather, Alfred; a son and granddaughter in infancy and his son-in-law, Chuck. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
