After living a very full life, Hazel passed away at the Johnson Memorial Hospital on December 22, 2003. She was predeceased by one daughter Denise Barbara Sexton, February 1954 and her sister Enid Rothwell, September 1998. She leaves behind her husband John of 63 years, son Phillip (Rita), three daughters, Dreen (Ken), Paulette (Richard) and Sharon (Raymond) ten grandchildren, Candace (Andrew), Neil (Bonnie), Timmy (Theresa), Kevin (Roxanne), Brent, Susan (Michael), Kyle (Ginesta), Grant (Nora), Cynthia (Paul), Leigh (Rachelle), Lea, Julian and 21 great-grandchildren. Born in Winnipeg in 1923. Hazels life centred around raising five children and participating in the building of a business with her husband John. Having successfully survived the challenges of an entrepreneur, Mom and Dad did enjoy their later years. Hazel was very generous and good hearted. Her commitment to family life and an excellent work ethic was instilled in her children. She was a very determined lady. John and Hazel always looked forward to their winter holiday south of the border. In their younger years, travelling, dancing and shopping was the order of the day, however, in the last few years their winter holidays continued but a little less active. Up until just a few years ago she was proud to be active in Daughters of the Nile, participating in Dance and Pageantry and when she and Dad retired in Sandy Hook they socialized and volunteered their time at the Gimli Legion. Hazel was a good and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her greatest pleasure was seeing her grandchildren come and say "Goodbye" before she went on her final journey. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Jackie Montoedi, the staff at Johnsons Memorial Hospital in Gimli, Pat and Carol Murphy and Sherry Allard.
