JOHN PAROBEC July 12, 1928 - December 18, 2003 After a full, rich and rewarding life Johnny passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday morning, December 18, 2003 at the age of 75. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne of 52 years, daughter Karon and husband Brian Sackney. Two grandchildren, Paul Sackney, Carla Graeb and her husband Eric and their two children, Anna and Kayta. He is survived by his sisters, Rose Chuchmuch, Vera Rodeck, Caroline Antoniw, Helen Sidoryk and Lillian Dzwonyk. John was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Lena. His four brothers, Peter, Michael, Evans and Lawrence; and his two sisters, Victoria Kalynuk and Ann Sawaryn. Johnny had many interests in his life. He loved farming and was very proud of his purebred Polled Herefords and his Arabian horses. After a short retirement from farming, John found employment back in agriculture with Gabers in Roblin, Millers in Shoal Lake and finally with Clements and the Bar C Ranch where he enjoyed nearly 20 years seeding, harvesting and working with horses. While farming he got his private pilot license and was a member of the Flying Farmers Association. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, but sports was his passion of 44 years. He played, coached and managed baseball and hockey. His ball teams won many championships. His sports career was highlighted by his induction into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame. He was easily recognized by his red baseball cap, number 44, his infectious laugh and smile. Mr. Baseball will be sadly missed by family and friends. Prayers were said Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church, Rossburn. The funeral service was held on Monday, December 22 at 10:00 a.m. from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church, Rossburn with Fr. Volodymyr Bashutskyy officiating. Interment followed in the Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Angusville. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
