OLGA SIMCOE (KACHKAN)

OLGA SIMCOE (nee KACHKAN) On December 25, 2003, our dear mother, mother-in-law, Baba and great friend, passed away at the age of 86 years. Olga was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1959; son Ricky in 1974; parents Harry and Anna Kachkan; sister Anne Dunits; and brothers, Steve, Bill, Dan and Fred. She is survived by her daughter Sylvia (Bob) Zerucha; grandsons, Ted and Tony; daughter-in-law Marilyn (Nigel) Lilley and granddaughter Tanya (David). Mama was born in Elmwood on May 12, 1917 and lived in the Elmwood and East Kildonan area all of her life. She was employed by the Great-West Life for 35 years, retiring at the age of 65 years. Mama enjoyed needlework and crafts, and her volunteer work with the Childrens Hospital Book Market that she performed for 20 years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Holy Eucharist Chuch, Munroe and Watt, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29 with Rev. Father Darren Kawiuk officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
