GEORGE MISSIABIT (JORDIE) May 2, 1947 - December 25, 2003 It is with great sadness on this special occasion, that we the family announce the passing of our beloved husband, Dad, uncle, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. At approximately 2:00 a.m. Christmas Morning, all the Angels came from Heaven to take Jordie home and to reunite him with his family. Jordie passed away on December 25, 2003 at the Eriksdale Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. Jordie was diagnosed with his illness in March of 2003. Despite his illness, Jordie made numerous trips to seek medical attention in Winnipeg. Upon his return to his home, his illness had already taken its toll. Finally on Christmas morning it was his will to go home. His only wish was to see Christmas. Jordie is survived by his loving wife Millie; his children, Bonnie, Howard, Pam, Rodney, Shaun, Rhonda, Robin and Jordan; also all the Mousseau children, his other children that he considered as his own Charlie, Lloyd, Earl and Lorie. He leaves to mourn his sisters, Ida, Maggie and Cecila; his brothers-in-law, Clarence Spence and all his children, Harvey Maytwayashing, Norman, Russell, Richard, Lawrence Mousseau and Lawrence Thompson; his father-in-law Arthur Pelletier and all the Pelletier family; his pet dog Chester; his sisters-in-law, Donna, Stella, Beverly and Sheila; his mothers whom he loved dearly Nellie, Lucy and Sarah Marsden; his nieces, Marie Whatem of Ottawa, ON, whom he just reunited with a few years back, also Loretta of Switzerland; his 19 grandchildren and all of his godchildren that he loved so much; also all his nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. At this time we would like to acknowledge the many attributes that Jordie has accomplished during his stay on Earth. First of all his dedication and over 30 years of service as a Band Manager of Lake Manitoba First Nation. He enjoyed his work tremendously. Jordie enjoyed working with his fellow coworkers. He met many challenges and adventures and acquaintances while employed at Lake Manitoba First Nation. He travelled to many communities to attend important functions. He received numerous awards for his dedication and devotion to his work. He was well liked and respected by all the First Nation people of Lake Manitoba Reserve. We would like to say a big thank-you to Lake Manitoba Chief and Council for their continuous encouragement and support. Also all the First Nations people of Lake Manitoba Reserve. Jordie enjoyed many types of sports especially baseball. He was nicknamed "Home Run King". He was a team player for many teams especially the Dog Creek Chiefs. He particularly enjoyed hockey and was a hockey player himself and a devoted fan. He enjoyed golfing and watching all his favourite sports on the television. His favourite pastime was to go hunting with his friends. He also enjoyed socializing with his many friends. He would gather at his home to have a good time. Jordie also participated in various events such as Pow Wows in different communities. Jordie was predeceased by his mothers Delia Edwards, Bella Missiabit; his father John Edwards; his brothers, Bill Missiabit, Edwin Edwards; his sisters, Lena Spence, Margaret, Rose and Florence and all of his other friends that went before him, too numerous to mention. Wake services will be held on Sunday, December 28 and Monday, December 29 at his residence on Lake Manitoba First Nation. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lake Manitoba School Gymnasium with Fr. Robert Bernadin O.M.I. officiating. Interment to follow in the Lake Manitoba Cemetery. At this time we would like to acknowledge the wishes that Jordie has requested. His pallbearers will be Harvey Maytwayashing, Norman Maytwayashing, Jessie Spence, Edwin Edwards, Cecil Paul and Rene Spence. Honorary pallbearers will be as follows, Russell Paul, Marshall Woodhouse, Garnet Woodhouse, Don Mitchell, Don Peter, Leslie Maytwayashing, Julie Paul, Donna Maytwayashing, Claudia Spence, Delphine Rundle and Gilbert Geisler. These are the people that Jordie requested to be included in his final wishes. A special thank-you to Dr. Burnett for his patience and kind words for Jordie, to all the medical staff the the Eriksdale and St. Boniface hospitals, to his personal attendant Mr. Werner who attended to his time of need. Jordie nicknamed him "Mother Goose", whom he respected. To Duncan Giesler for all his documents he has prepared for Jordie, to all his many friends who have visited him in the hospital and at home and to all the health clinic staff at Lake Manitoba.
