Date of Passing: Dec 27, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMORGAN STANLEY JOHNSON It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Morgan, our dear husband, father and grampa on December 27, 2003 at the Gimli Hospital. Dad was stricken with pancreatitis on Thanksgiving weekend and thankfully his suffering is over. Morgan will be lovingly remembered by Eleanor, his wife of 57 years; and their children, Brian (Shyrl), Greg (Betty), Karen (Murray), Kim (Mark). He will be greatly missed by his "kids", grandchildren, Jeff, Jason, Kurtis, Kelly, Dana, Lindy, Jesse, Carly and Jamie. He is also survived by his sister Shirley (Fred) and his brother Stu (Donna), sister-in-law Alice and brother-in-law Stan (Iris) numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear, close friends. Morgan was predeceased by his father Morgan, his mother Myrtle, and his brother Garth. Morgan was born in Miniota, MB in 1924 and grew up in Beulah and Birtle area. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and was discharged because of a knee injury in 1944. He married Eleanor Stoughton in 1946 and together they started their life on the farm in Isabella. After 14 years of farm life Morgan and Eleanor decided to leave the farm and Morgan was hired by the Federal Government (Veterans Affairs) and worked in Birtle, Kenora, Morden and Winnipeg. He retired in 1986 and enjoyed his golden years, travelling to Arizona every winter and golfing and gardening all summer. Their move to Sandy Hook, MB in 1989 was Morgans last. He loved his little plot of land and it showed in his beautifully manicured lawn and breathtaking flower beds. Dad was a true gentleman. The respect he earned from his children and his grandchildren is his legacy. A kinder, gentler man well never meet. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30 at Gilbarts Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. Rev. Lynn Stevens officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Birtle, MB. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations may be made in Morgans memory to a charity of choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
