Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTON SHUMILAK On Friday, December 26, 2003 at the Beausejour Hospital, Beausejour Anton Shumilak passed away peacefully. Anton was born on the family farm in Ladywood, MB on August 10, 1910 and was the fourth oldest of nine children. He lived and farmed most of his life. Being on the farm and a "jack of all trades" he was able to rebuild just about anything, from tractors and fixing to sewing and cooking. There was nothing he couldnt do. Anton was always looking for ways to better himself and his loss of hearing didnt stop him. His pride and joy was his garden along with the vegetables that he grew. His brother Stanley and Anton were inseparable always doing things together, fishing or hunting. He was a very generous man, never afraid to help out when he was asked and expected nothing in return. Anton was like a father and grandfather to his niece Noreen and her daughter Leyan and son Dayne. Anton leaves to mourn his only remaining brother Edward. He was predeceased by his brothers, Bernard, Stanley, Jack, Michael, Frank, sisters Mary and Helen. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, December 30 at 7:00 p.m. from Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour, MB. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 31 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Marys RC Church, Beausejour with Fr. Owen Steeves officiating. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. RUSSELLS of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements. Call 1-866-424-6271 (toll free) or 268-2263.

Great Uncle Anton was just that, great. Some of the happiest memories of my life was visiting with him and Stanley. We would always be doing something fun such as gardening, fishing, and going to play bingo. Uncle Anton would always play cards, snakes and ladders, and checkers with me. I could always count on him to pick me fresh berries when I came over. They would always check on me through the night when I slept over to make sure I was okay. There are so many memories and so many moments I hold close to my heart. Thank you for all the wonderful moments we shared. - Posted by: Leyan Hnatishin (Great Niece) on: Feb 18, 2012
