Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR (AU KWONG HO) HOE Arthur passed away peacefully on December 27, 2003 at Lions Manor. Arthur leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his sons: David (Aliana), Nelson (Gina), Raymond (Shirley), and Alan, and their mother, Fong Sui Yee. Arthur will be dearly missed by all his grandchildren: Renee Hill (Jonathan), Michael Au, Jean-Paul Hoe, Amelia Au, Marc Hoe, Stephen Au and Jason Au. Arthur was loved and also will be missed by all his nieces and nephews as well as relatives and friends. Au Kwong Ho was born in China and immigrated to Newfoundland as a young man to work with relatives and provide financial support to family back in China. Arthur Hoe became his adopted name in Canada. Arthur was part of a large family of six brothers and two sisters. Arthur was predeceased by his father, Au Moon Seung, and mother, Cheung Sau Ling, his sisters, Au Kiu and Au Seu Yee, and all his brothers, Au Kwong Ming, Au Kwong Fuk, Au Kwong Luk, and Au Kean Wah. For most of his life, Arthur worked as a restauranteur and as a waiter in a number of local restaurants. Arthur was a generous and compassionate man, he loved all people and developed many enduring friendships. He was generous with his time and was always willing to listen and help people with difficulties. Arthur was a man of faith. He loved God and professed his faith in using the opportunities presented to him to be of service. Arthur loved going to church with his family and singing special hymns. Arthur attended Knox United Church regularly until health prevented him. Arthur also enjoyed attending Winnipeg Blue Bomber games and seeing a number of Grey Cup games. On occasions, Arthur also enjoyed going to Assiniboine Downs to watch the horses run. At age of 94, Arthur has lived a full life, loved by family and friends, and in his final years, was cared for at Lions Manor. The family would like to thank all those who provided comfort and support to Arthur, both in medical and nursing care, but especially to the staff at Lions Manor who made special effort to make him comfortable. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation may be made in Arthurs memory to either Lions Manor or a charity of ones choice. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception to follow.
