JOHN ALFRED (ALFIE) MOAR
Born: Feb 24, 1943
Date of Passing: Dec 26, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ALFRED (ALFIE) MOAR February 24, 1943 - December 26, 2003 Peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2003 our father, brother, uncle and friend passed away at Riverview Health Centre. Alfie will be sadly missed by his two sons, Darwin (Sheila and Sasha) and Darcy. He will also be dearly remembered by his special friend Darlene; brothers, Alex (Lucille), Charles (Donna), Hank (Lorena), Duke (Margaret) sisters, Margaret, Nancy, Emily, Dorothy (Jim) and Mary (Gary) along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Alfie worked for Winnipeg Hydro for over 20 years until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of Army and Navy Unit No. 1 for many years as well as The Manitoba Darts Association where he made life long friends. Alfie was born in Kinosota, MB in 1943 and for the next 60 years of his life it was evident in everything he did his obsession for this small village. He loved the outdoors and the smell of the Kinosota air enjoying hunting and fishing but in later years his true passion became camping at Margaret Bruce Beach. Each summer one could easily pick out Alfie wearing his favourite cowboy hat enjoying his camp site only feet away from Lake Manitoba. Visitors were always welcome day or night to share a cup of tea and a good laugh. When unable to visit his favourite place no longer Alfie managed to find other hobbies to occupy his time: dream catchers, key chains and carved creations became his specialty. His true passion though, was always his family and their well being. The legacy he leaves to his family are good times and beautiful memories. We all lived in hope, We prayed in vain, That God would make You well again, Tired and weary You made no fuss, But tried so hard to stay with us, We knew that we would lose you, We thought we were prepared, We told you how we loved you, And how much we really cared. But nothing could prepare us, For the loss we feel today, When you left you werent alone, You took part of us away. "To us you are so special, What more is there to say, Except to say with all our hearts We wanted you to stay." "WE LOVE YOU ALFIE !" A celebration of Alfies life will be held Friday, January 2, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at Deer Lodge Centre Chapel, 2109 Portage Ave. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 3 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bedes Anglican Church in Kinosota, MB. Pallbearers will be Lindsay Krost, William Moar, Shane Moar, Gary Cumming, Brian Bulas and Walker Campbell. A special thank you to Debbie, Kathryn, Angela and Gino for the exceptional care Alfie received while at home.
