Date of Passing: Dec 27, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADA MOWATT (nee PEEBLES) 1914 - 2003 It is with great sadness that our Mom, Packy, Sister and Aunty passed away at her home peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at the age of 89 years, after a brave battle with cancer. Ada is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Donna and Raymond Massey; her two grandchildren, Kevin and Kelly; her sister Mary Birston; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Harold (Bin) in 2001; her parents, James and Maria Peebles; her brothers, Ernest, Jim, Radford and Lester; and sister Violet Cox. Mom was born on June 24, 1914 in Lockport, MB where she resided all her life. She loved to travel and went on many beautiful trips. She was an avid gardener; she loved planting and growing flowers as well as vegetables which she shared with neighbours and friends. She was also known to many as the "best" bannock maker around. In the 1970s she was baptized a Jehovahs Witness and was an active member of the Selkirk Congregation. The family would like to thank Moms home care ladies for the most excellent care they gave her during her illness. Without them, we wouldnt have been able to keep her in the comfort of her own home, where she wished to remain until her passing. Also, thank you to all the friends who visited Mom and brought her flowers, smiles and fries. A viewing will be held at Gilbarts Funeral Home on Friday, January 2, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with cremation to follow, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Jehovahs Witness Kingdom Hall, 12 Hawthorne Place, Selkirk (off PTH #9a) Interment to follow at a later date. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
