REVEREND CANNON GENEVIEVE THERESA MURDOCH (nee SMITH) Surrounded by her loving family our Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt passed away peacefully, following a brief illness at the Womens Hospital, Health Sciences Centre on December 28, 2003 at the age of 75. She will always be loved and remembered by her husband Jack; daughter Cathy (Harold) Dalman their children, Kirstyn and Jenna; daughter Janie and her children, Shelly, Camille (Rob), Brenlee and one great-grandson Kaiden. She will also be greatly missed by sisters, Eve, Mary Ann (Armond), Sharon (John) brothers, Charlie (Vera), Richard (Sylvia), William (Liz), Gordon (Doris) and their families along with many nieces and nephews and her close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Elizabeth Smith and brother Harold Smith. Our moms life was filled with her constant faith and love for her family and this brought her the greatest joy and comfort through all her life. Mom was born in Fairford, MB on April 28, 1928, this is where she spent the early years of her life before moving on to different parts of the Interlake due to her Fathers ministry. Mom met her lifelong companion Jack and were married October 15, 1952, residing in the Petersfield/Clandeboye area for most of their life before retiring to the city. Moms Educational career began with her nursing degree completed at St. Boniface Hospital and went on to attend the University of Manitoba where she completed her Theology degree and upon this becoming one of the first ordained women priests in the Diocese of Rupertsland. She went on to serve numerous parishs before retiring in June of 1993. Mom became an Honorary Priest Associate at St. Lukes Parish until her passing. Moms many enjoyments were spent with family and friends on many Camping trips and spending time with her family on the farm in Clandeboye at many family functions. She loved her music which filled her with such elation. She loved to travel, and made her most memorable trip over to England and Scotland of which she loved. Moms humour and compassion brought her many new and lifelong friendships. A funeral service of Celebration for the life of Gen will be held in St. Lukes Anglican Church, 130 Nassau at Stradbrook on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Robert L. Brownlie officiating. Private interment will follow at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Reverend Dr. Thomas Graham, The Reverend Dr. John Wortley, The Reverend Cannon John Caird, Choir member Malcolm Tinsley, nephews Jim and Bob Schreyer. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of the fifth floor of the Womens Hospital, Health Sciences Centre and Doctors of Oncology, CancerCare, Health Sciences Centre for the loving care and compassion given to our Wife and Mother, this will never be forgotten. We would also like to give our special thanks to Beryl Gifford and The Reverend Robert L. Brownlie two of Moms closest friends for all of their help, loving support of which brought much comfort and strength to Mom and her family.
