PHYLLIS MARY AGNES RYAN (nee BAXTER) November 14, 1934- December 28, 2003 Suddenly, on December 28, 2003, Phyllis passed away at the Middlechurch Home in Winnipeg. Phyllis was born and lived her whole life in Winnipeg. She married at the age of 19 in 1954. She worked many years at the Bank of Montreal in various capacities. After that, she worked at Childrens Hospital as a slating clerk, and then as a medical secretary, until her retirement in 1987. Mom was fortunate to have many supportive friends and coworkers who extended kindnesses, big and small, that enabled her to keep on working as long as she did, in a job that she loved. Phyllis leaves to mourn her husband of 49 years, Terence Ryan; daughters, Monica (Lorne) Palmquist, Celeste (Ken) Pass, Kirsten Ryan (Ladislav Tomes) and Lara (Murray) Moslenko; grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel, Kaetlyn, David, Luke and Lenae; sisters, Dorothy Baxter, Valerie (Al) Chitty; brothers, Paul, Gerry and Robert Baxter; nieces and nephews. Mom was diagnosed with MS at a young age, and because of her physical limitations she sought out many experiences to enrich her life including learning Braille, sign language, writing and learning to paint. Her beautiful paintings are wonderful memories of her and will be treasured forever. In her later years, she struggled with numerous other health problems but still kept busy with knitting and crocheting, and Dad was kept busy with many trips to the wool store. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of B1, Middlechurch Home, for the wonderful care that she received in her last few years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2004, at the St. Theresa Parish, 3597 Main St., West St. Paul, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Interment at a later date.
