MICHAEL (MICKEY) OBRODOVICH Peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, Michael (Mickey) Obrodovich, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2003, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mickey was the dearly loved husband of Vickey; the loving father of Cheryl Peitsch (Gordon) and the beloved Gido of Christine Grieger (Lorne), Edward, Pamela, Barrett and fiancee Larissa Puttaert. Mickey is also survived by his brother Steve (Sally) of Winnipeg; sisters, Evelyn Neil and Elaine MacDonald of Calgary, Rose (Lou) Simonson of Toronto; sister-in-law Mary Obrodovich of Saskatoon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Mickey was predeceased by his beloved daughter Diane in 1970; his parents, Nick and Caroline; sisters, Kathleen and Ann; his brothers, Matt, Joe and John. Mickey was born in Young, SK on July 10, 1926. He moved to Manitoba in 1949 where he met the love of his life with whom he shared 54 wonderful years. He worked very hard to provide for his family, initially through farming and later through two successful businesses in Beausejour, the Sher-E-Ann Dining Room and Mickeys Billiards. Mickeys retirement in 1990 allowed more opportunity to pursue his favourite pastimes of golfing, fishing, playing crib and being with his treasured family. Mickey was avidly interested in politics, which he demonstrated through his long term commitment and contribution to the New Democratic Party. He had a strong faith and a love for his Church, serving on the Board of Directors at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Parish. Mickey had a great love for his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. We will never forget the way his eyes lit up when he saw us, the smiles, the warm hugs and the stories. He was such a special part of our lives and his prayers, love and support will be deeply missed. We were truly honoured and blessed to have this special man in our lives. Gidos Chrissy, Tiger, Pumpkin and Little Bear will miss him immeasurably. Mickey, Dad, Gido, we have so many wonderful memories and you will be forever in our hearts. We love you. Prayers will be sung on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue E., Beausejour. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Park Avenue E., Beausejour, with Rev. Fr. Taras Kowch the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Beausejour Health Centre and to Dr. Zeiler for their warm and compassionate care.
