Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELAINE CLARE WINGATE (nee WATMOUGH) On December 27, 2003, after enjoying Christmas with family and friends, Elaine passed away peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 83. Her beloved husband Robert C. (Bob) Wingate predeceased Elaine in May, 1994 just weeks prior to their 50th wedding anniversary. Elaine was also predeceased by her mother and father, Alexina Clare (Soucy) and George Reginald Watmough; her brother Harold Watmough; sister-in-law Mary Watmough; and brother-in-law Gordon Knowles. Elaine leaves to mourn her three sons, Ken and wife Sue of Strathmore, AB, Alan and wife Lynne of East St. Paul, MB and Gary and wife Evelyn of Pine Falls, MB. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dana of Kelowna, BC, Jason (Joy) of Calgary, AB, Kyle (Nicole) of Winnipeg, Charles, Paul and Ian, all of Pine Falls; and great-grandchildren, Tara, Carl, Dylan, Marissa and Colin. Elaine is also survived by her sister Marion Watmough of Richmond, BC; and her sister-in-law Joyce Knowles of Listowel, ON; nieces, Patricia Knowles of Fergus, ON, and Alix Blair of Abbotsford, BC; and nephews, Doug Knowles of Peterborough, ON and Rick Watmough of Abbotsford, and their families. Elaine was born in and spent most of her life in Winnipeg. She worked at the Wheat Board and at Shell Oil Home Heating Div. as well as raising her three sons. Elaine loved to knit and play bingo and cards no matter what the game. Elaine cared for Bob after he suffered a stroke in 1988 until his death in 1994. She continued to attend Stroke Association of Manitoba meetings until the past year. She enjoyed the company of her friends there and also her community of friends at Appleton Estates. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the club room on the 17th floor of 133 Niakwa Rd. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation to either the Manitoba Heart Foundation or the Stroke Association of Manitoba would be appreciated.
