ROBERT GORDON CRAIG December 17, 1917 to January 1, 2004 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Robert Gordon Craig at Kin Place Personal Care Home, in Oakbank, MB, at 86 years of age. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Ruby in 1991. Bob leaves to cherish his memory, sons, David (Linda) Craig of Cooks Creek, MB and Leslie (Myrtle) Craig of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Robert Craig, Heather (Aaron) Drewniak, Daniel Goulet and Laurie Goulet. Bob is also survived by his brothers, Tom (Evelyn) Craig, Jim (Marolyn) Craig; and sisters, Elizabeth (Alex) Guz, Edna Brown, Jean (Jack) Oatway; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was also predeceased by his brothers, Stuart Craig, John Craig, Norman Craig, Harry Craig; and his sister Margaret Oatway. Dad lived most of his life on the farm in Murray Park, MB, where he resided with his parents and siblings, and later his wife and sons. He loved that farm with every breath, it was truly a part of his spirit to the end. Besides farming, Dad had many horse boarders, and rented out gardening space to people who would become lifelong friends. His wonderful supply of hay, straw and grain were always in great demand at the race track. Dad passed his love of the land and animals onto his sons. There was always a dog at his side and he was always the first to find the new kittens in the barn. Whether he was fixing the fence or walking through the pasture the cattle would follow him. The boys would be exhausted trying to catch an old nag to ride and hed just grin, give a call, and the horses would trot right over to the fence to meet him. Things that made Dad smile were, the morning sun, a newborn calf, a foal romping through the pasture, driving his team of horses, the smell of a freshly plowed field, the boys trying to ride the steers or saddle a green horse, Les speeding through the yard on his dirt bike and Dave running the snowmobile through the biggest drifts, his grandchildren playing in the sand at Hillside Beach, and the smile on Rubys face when she rode her horse and brought the lunch out to the field. His love and devotion to his family, his kindness, loyalty and generosity were felt by all who knew him. The family want to thank Dr. Wiebe and the wonderful staff at Kin Place for the gentle care, kindness and compassion given to Dad, and to Rosie, Dads dance partner, who could always bring a smile to his face. A special thanks to Uncle Jack and Aunty Jean for your devotion to Dad and support to us. Til We Meet Again... Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make a donation in Dads memory to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 204-825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5 as tokens of remembrance. Cremation has taken place and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 6 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow the service.
