MURRAY CLIFFORD SMITH Murray passed away December 27, 2003, at the Carman Memorial Hospital at the age of 76 years. Born in Carman, MB on February 28, 1927, Murray spent most of his life in Carman. Murray is survived by his wife of 31 years, Iona (nee Rennie) brother Doug of Dryden, ON; brother-in-law Clarke McLaren; sister-in-law Nettie Smith, both of Roland, MB, as well as many nieces and nephews and members of the Rennie family. He was the second son of Bill and Edna Smith and was predeceased by his parents; sister Betty McLaren and brother Bill Smith. Murray worked many years at Boyne Lodge in Carman as an aide, always caring for the welfare of others and spreading his goodwill and humour to those around him. A faithful member of Carman Legion Branch 18 for 57 years, Murray received his certificate of merit as well as life membership in recognition of his years of dedicated and faithful service to the legion. Murray truly enjoyed the association and fellowship of the members on a daily basis. His passing will leave a tremendous void at the branch as its welfare was one of his prime concerns. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Carman Hospital as well as to the many friends, for your loving care, concern and support during Murrays illness. Funeral service will be held at Doyles Funeral Chapel, in Carman, on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating.
