Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM GEORGE BATES 1913 - 2004 Bill passed away peacefully on January 3, 2004 at the Villa Youville, Ste. Anne, where he had resided for the last four years. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Ellen; children, Doug (Mary Ellen), Phyllis (Dave), Murray (Nancy) step-children, Doug (Doreen), Sharon (Philippe) sister Evelyn; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn in 1962 and by a daughter, Pat. During the Second World War, Bill served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a navigator. After the war, Bill worked at International Harvester for over 40 years. During retirement, Bill and Nell enjoyed many winters at their home in Phoenix and summers at their cottage in the Whiteshell. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff of Villa Youville who lovingly cared for Bill. A special thanks to Sister Rioux for her love, care and compassion. In compliance with Bills wishes, cremation had taken place and a private service was held. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make a donation in Bills memory to the CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3.
