WILLIAM FREDRICK KNOX GRAY Peacefully on January 3, 2004, at the Carman Memorial Hospital, Knox passed away in his 94th year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years Ruby; son Fred (Bertie) daughter Carrol (Andy) grandchildren, Wanda (Gary), John (Karen), Heather (Bob), David (Lisa) and five great-grandchildren. Knox was born November 7, 1909 in Minitonas, MB. He grew up in the village of Solsgirth, MB, the only child of William and Mae Gray. Knox and Ruby farmed at Solsgirth where their two children were born. They left the farm and went to Brandon where Knox trucked with McArthur and Son. Leaving Brandon, they moved to Graysville in 1942 where Knox bought grain for 30 years with United Grain Growers Limited. This elevator, being sold, Knox opted for the life of retirement. Upon retiring, Dad worked as custodian of the Graysville School. While living in Graysville, Knox took an avid interest in the curling and skating rinks. Knox and Ruby retired to Bishop Bay in Carman in 1981. Knox was very fond of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always had time for a game of darts, lawn bowling or cards. He loved to visit with company. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8 at the Grace St. Johns Anglican Church, Carman, MB, with Reverend Brad Elliott officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Everyone in attendance should consider themselves an honorary pallbearer.
