AGNES BARTEL Agnes Bartel was born to Jac and Margaret Barkman Penner in the Landmark area on September 24, 1907 and peacefully passed on to her reward January 4, 2004, reaching the age of 96 years. Mother married Ben Bartel on December 18, 1927 and they spent 63 happy years together till he predeceased her on October 6, 1990. She has since made her home in the Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, where she was lovingly cared for in the full care department the last 5 years. Mothers personality was shaped and tempered by the rigours of pioneer farm living through the depression years, bearing her ten sons and daughters, and her faith in the almighty God whom she had accepted into her heart and life as a young girl. She was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, which faith she embraced to the end. She left behind, daughters, Lorena (Levi Boese) Linden, AB, Margaret (Melvin Warkentin) Ste. Anne, MB, Adeline (Dewayne Warkentin), Ste. Anne; sons, Gladwin (Audrey) Qualicum, BC, Jake (Lorraine), Nanaimo, BC, Eldon (Paulina) Benito, MB, Bert (Louise) White Rock, BC, Fred (Gladys) Ste. Anne, Clifford (Vivian) Saltcoats, SK, Larry (Connie) Norquay, SK and 54 grandchildren 145 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; four sisters; four brothers and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ben; her mother and father; one daughter-in-law; four brothers and three sisters.
