LEONA I. GONZOLA R.N. B.N., CNeph (C) With great sadness, we announce the passing of Leona Irene Gonzola on Sunday, January 4, 2004. Leona is survived by her loving husband Fred Stumpf; mother Mary; sister Doris (Don), Mary (Ed) niece Trish (Andrew) their children, Carter and Victoria. She is also survived by her step-children, Donna (Wally), Tom (Wendy), Wayne (Marta) Lori (Terry), loving step-grandchildren, Jenny, Tiffany, Brian, Dayle, Devon, Aaron, Ashley and step-great-grandchild Logan. She was predeceased by her father Michael. Leona was born on November 9, 1957 in Winnipeg. She graduated from St. Johns High School in 1975 and went into the Nursing profession. In 1980 she received her Registered Nursing Diploma. In 1989, Leona received her Bachelor of Nursing Degree. From 1992 to 1996 she received both Manitoba and Canadian Nephrology Nursing Certificates. Leonas nursing career started at the Health Sciences Centre, where she taught many nursing students. In 1984 her nursing skills took her to Saudi Arabia for two years. The following year, Leona traveled extensively throughout Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. Upon her return to Winnipeg, she once again joined the Health Sciences staff. In 1995 Leona married the love of her life, Fred. Together they enjoyed the adventures of camping with their dog Kelly-May. They traveled throughout Canada, USA and Europe. Music and the arts were a big part of their lives together. We will sadly miss the happy smile and the bubbly personality. Prayers will be held on Thursday, January 8 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 110 Disraeli St., with Rev. John Melnyk. Interment to follow at St. Basils Cemetery in Fraserwood, MB. Pallbearers are Tom Stumpf, Wayne Stumpf, Devon Stumpf, Brian Trump, Wally Zorget and Benny Zorget. Flowers are gratefully declined; donations may be made in Leonas memory to the CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of your choice. VICHNAYA PAMYAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
