WINNIFRED OLIVE STEPHENS October 25, 1923 - January 5, 2004 Winnie passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg after a courageous battle with cancer. Winnie is survived by her two girls, Valerie (Anthony) Henry and Joanne Smith; goddaughter Andrea (Danny) McDonald; grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Dean, Gracie, Sylvia, Nicole, Leanne, Reid and Danielle; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces, Isobel and Cheryl; nephews, George, Joe and Ricky. She is also survived by her three very special friends, Ed and Anne Friesen and family and Leonora Langford. Many other dear friends who were so important to her also mourn her passing. Winnie was predeceased by her parents, William and Sarah Smith; sisters, Ida, Patricia and Bertha; brothers, George and Willie; nephew Woody. Winnie will always be remembered for her love for others and her ability to make others laugh and enjoy each new day. She had been an avid curler in her younger years, and in her twilight years shared many television bonspiels with her girl Joanne. She will be sadly missed by all and her spirit and memories will be kept alive by those she leaves behind. No service will be held. A celebration of Winnies life will be held on a later date. May God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
