Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNIE FEHR January 21, 1952 - January 2, 2004 It is with immense sadness that we announce the very unexpected passing of Ernie Fehr at the age of almost 52 years at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. He was born on January 21, 1952 in Colonia Menno, Chaco, Paraguay. The Fehr family immigrated to Canada in August 1955 when Ernie was three years old. Ernie is survived by his loving wife Rae of 27 years; and his dearest daughters, Ashley and Courtney. His brothers, Ruben (Anne), Herman (Nancy), Ike (Martha), Harry (Joan), and Rudy (Marie) and by his sisters, Hannah Koop, Sarah (Adolf Koop), and Lil (Terry Curle) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sister-in-law Marcia (Robin Hill), nephew Christopher Hill and mother-in-law Linda Peters. Ernie was predeceased by his father and mother, Henry B. and Sara Fehr; as well as a niece Judy Koop; and brother-in-law Henry Koop. Ernie married his high school sweetheart Rae Peters in July 1976. Ernie was already in the flooring and roofing business in partnership with his best friend Mike Kehler. Ernie continued his flooring business, known as Ernie Fehr Flooring for 32 years, mostly in commercial jobs, including Saan stores which took him from Vancouver Island to Prince Edward Island, as well as the Northwest Territories. Everyone knew him as a hard working, very outgoing, loyal, and totally unselfish person. Ernies career began and ended with nothing but hard work, there was not an idle bone in his body. At times his jobs took him away from his beloved family for stretches of two to three weeks, but he kept in touch daily, doing "double time" with them when he came home. He loved nothing better than spending time with his daughters and somehow always managed to be home for all their special school activities and birthdays. We often marvelled how he managed this. For many years he was very involved in sports, little league baseball, junior hockey, and later with the Steinbach Huskies as a forward, and with the commercial Puckers. Ernie has left a void in all our lives that will be impossible to fill. His love of life and ability to do almost anything will remain with us always. If friends wish, donations in his memory may be made to ACL, Steinbach branch. Funeral services to be held at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main St., Steinbach, Thursday, January 8 at 2:00 p.m. Public viewing Wednesday, January 7, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel, Steinbach.
