GEORGE W. CLAYTON George W. Clayton passed away suddenly on Monday, January 5, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Minnie; and his children, Bev (Garry) Parker of Winnipeg and their two children, Darryl of Tokyo and Keith of Winnipeg; Linda (Bob) Smith and their three children, Scott, Mandy (Jeff) Gieg and their two children, Claudia and Holly, and Jonathon, all of Edmonton; George Jr. of Lacombe, AB. Also mourning his memory is sister-in-law Josie Campbell and family of Transcona; brother-in-law Joe (Olga) Newby and their family of Regina, SK; and many nieces and nephews. George came to Canada in 1940 as a 14-year old evacuee from England. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and after serving his country, he married Minnie in March of 1946. He was employed at the Winnipeg Tribune for 34 years. George then worked for the Winnipeg Sun for five years and upon his retirement, worked for the Seniors Today newspaper part-time, until his retirement. George was a caring and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception to follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
