Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryABE SHAW 1912 - 2004 On January 6, 2004 at 91 years. Abe was predeceased by his wife Ester. He leaves behind a son Melvin Shaw, daughter Luella (John) Hays; three granddaughters, Jan Levitt, Liz (Gary) Ross, Susan (David) Numerow, and four great-grandchildren, Nia, Nicky, Logan and Ben. Abe was born December 26, 1912 in Edmonton, AB, moving to Winnipeg as a young man. He was a Captain in the 2nd Armoured Car Division. After leaving the service he spent the remainder of his working years selling clothing and insurance for London Life. He was a physical fitness devotee spending a lot of his time at the Y.M.H.A After retiring he divided his time between the Y.M.H.A. and Beacon Hill Lodge where he spent time caring for his wife until her death in 1990. Books were his passion. Studying history, military history, religion and health and fitness, kept Abe active and interested in life til the end. Services were held January 8 at Etz Chaim Synagogue. Pallbearers were John Hayes, Gary Ross, Mark Nepon, Jack Nepon, Art Holloway, Mark Berkowitz. Honorary pallbearers were Ron and Barry Morlock.
