PETER WIENS Peter Gerald Wiens was born in Winnipeg June 16, 1933 and passed away on January 5, 2004 at Tuxedo Villa. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mary Wiens. Peter is survived by his sister Helga Bergen and Henry; nieces, Karen and Joanne; and nephew David. Peter learned to play the oboe and at the age of 15 he began his career with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. His career with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra lasted 30 years. After retiring from his music career, he was employed by the City of Winnipeg Parks and Recreation Department as a seasonal employee. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for the loving care they provided to Peter over the past five years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Rev. John Unger officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
