Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGNES JOHNSON (FORBES) It is with great sadness the family of Agnes Johnson announces the sudden demise of their loving and devoted mother in the morning of January 5, 2004 at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Agnes was predeceased by her first husband of 33 years, Lewis John Forbes in 1978, and her second husband Earle Johnson of 18 years, seven months ago. Agnes (Pollock) was born in Renfrew, Scotland, September 9, 1927 and was one of the first war brides to come to Canada. She and her husband Lewis had three children, Isabel Habing (Ron), Louise Huzel (Roy) and Lewis Forbes (Deborah). She married Earle Johnson in 1985 and her family was enhanced with the addition of his children, Vance Johnson and Gail Ryckman (Hal) and families. She leaves to mourn numerous grandchildren, a great-grandson and a sister, Margaret Vernal (Jack) in Scotland. Agnes will be remembered as a born optimist. No one who knew her will ever forget that lovely smile of hers lighting up her face. She loved life and had a wonderful sense of humour. Her spontaneity and wit enlivened any social occasion. She was known for her hospitality, kindness and generosity. Agnes was a dynamic person and lived so much for others. As well as being a loving mother she was a leader and organizer of all of those around her. She deeply loved her family but still had energy to engage in her many group activities. Her creativity was expressed through crafting, flower arranging, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She loved to play the piano, everything from social gatherings, to Sons of Scotland Christmas parties and Grand Camp. Her love of travel took her back to her beloved Scotland, and such destinations as Europe, the Caribbean, Australia and New Zealand. In recent years although afflicted by paralysis and unable to speak, her patience, endurance and sheer goodness and sweetness set a standard and spread happiness to all she knew. Agnes will always be remembered, admired and valued by all who knew and loved her. Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, in her memory.
