CATHERINE MARGARET HASINOFF
Born: Jun 05, 1944
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE MARGARET HASINOFF With a glass of wine and her favourite opera music playing, we celebrate the full and joyous life of Cathy Hasinoff. In her beloved Mexico, where she journeyed with her family in search of the sun for many years at Christmas, she developed a rapid and devastating meningitis that claimed her life. She passed away peacefully shortly after midnight on New Years Day surrounded by her loving family. Her devoted husband Michael and beautiful daughters, Leah and Erin share their sadness and grief with her incredible circle of friends. Cathy had a way of making each and every one of us feel special and was an inspiration to us all as a wife, mother, friend and teacher. Born June 5, 1944 in Winnipeg, Cathy graduated with honours from the University of Manitoba (BSc 65). She and Michael shared 40 wonderful years together and dearly loved their two daughters, Leah (Jon) and Erin (Brian). Cathy was delighted to be present for the birth of her first grandchild, Hannah, who was also there to share this years Christmas. Cathy taught in the Chemistry Department at Langara Community College and her love of teaching has touched many students. Somehow while working, Cathy still managed to make time for her many dear friends. Cathy will always be with us with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. A Celebration of her Life will be held at University Chapel (5375 University Blvd.) on Saturday, January 10 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at Brock House. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a Scholarship in Cathys honour through the Langara College Foundation, or to the Canadian Infectious Disease Society. Cathys gift is to live for each and every day, just as she always has with her vibrant energy, enthusiasm and overflowing joie de vivre. She didnt just climb mountains, she ran up them...
