STEINUN KRISTIN GOHL (nee PALSON) After a lengthy hospital stay, we are saddened to announce the passing of Steinun Steina. She is survived by her son Carl; her daughter Lisa and she is also survived by her brothers, Thor, Wilbert, Oli, Albert and her sister Mae. She is predeceased by her parents, Ebbi and Wilhelmina Palson; her brother George and sisters, Ebba, Helga and Bugga. Steina was born on a farm just outside the Riverton area and also lived in Gimli, Brandon, Vancouver, Thompson and spent the remainder of her years in the city of Winnipeg. She loved to spend time telling of life on the farm where she grew up. She was very proud of her Icelandic heritage and liked to go over old photos and tell where they were taken, who the people in the picture were and tell stories about each person. Family was very important to Steina and some of the happiest times of her life were spent with family members and at reunions where she could catch up with everyone. She walked in faith and she tried to reflect that in every aspect of her life. She was active in politics and was a life long NDP supporter. Mom, Steina, Aunty Honey, Amma will be dearly missed by family and friends, as well as her special friend Alfred Bordass. Thank you to her family and friends who have supported her over the years. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Unit 4, Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and kindness. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 200 Dalhousie Dr., Winnipeg. A reception at the church will follow.
