Offer Condolences or MemoryPADRE MARAT M. HOLOBOW, RCAF, CAF March 9, 1925 - January 6, 2004 It is with sadness and deep loss that the family of Marat M. Holobow announces his passing on the 6th of January, 2004 at the Kingston General Hospital. "Marty" and his beloved wife Marian celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this year. The family was blessed to have spent this past Christmas all together at home: children, Dan (Jennifer-Lynn Marcus), Naomi (Fred Genesee) and Mike (Grace Aubrecht) as well as grandchildren, Ajay, Patricia, Jennifer and James. Fond uncle of Lesley Skinner (Kevin) and Kim Pasacreta (Stephen) of Vancouver and only brother of the late Gertrude Schedler. The congregations of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kingston as well as St. Ansgars Lutheran Church in Montreal will share in the familys loss. After his discharge following the war, Marty returned to school, and it was at Luther College, Regina, where he first met Marian. He was ordained in 1954. During the next 25 years, he served as Protestant Chaplain at bases throughout Canada, France, and Germany. Among other activities, he also served in the Middle East as part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, and as chairman of the Canadian Bible Society, Montreal Branch. After retiring from the military, he continued his ministry as pastor at St. Ansgars Lutheran Church in Montreal and practiced caring ministry for the infirmed of St. Marks in Kingston, ON. Marty lived with grace, love, compassion and dignity. His other passions were Marian, his family, flying, Canadian politics, history and sports. He will de deeply missed. The family is grateful for the care provided by the medical staff at the Kingston General Hospital. Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (900 Counter St. info@jamesreidfuneralhome.com) on Friday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 263 Victoria St., Kingston, ON on Saturday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception. Interment at Cataraqui Cemetery, Veterans section. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kingston Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
