ERIC "RICK" KURZ It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, Eric "Rick" Kurz, on January 5, 2004, in Duluth, MN. Eric was born in Winnipeg, December 1, 1966. He grew up in Winnipeg and graduated from St. Boniface Diocesan High School in 1984. He played football with the Fort Garry Lions and went on to be a member of the all-star team. Eric continued his education at the U of W. and went on to Mesabi Community College in Virginia, MN, where he played football and met his wife of 16 years, Sally (nee Severson). Eric held numerous jobs before his employment for the Government of Manitoba - Department of Justice for the last 13 and one-half years. Eric was a devoted family man who focused his life around his wife and their son Mason. He was an offensive line coach for his sons football team, the Transcona Nationals. Eric was also very involved with his sons hockey, which gave him great pride. Personal sacrifices were made to ensure his family came first. Eric was a proud member of the Eagles Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, ATVing and biking around town or golfing with his buddies and son. Eric is survived by his wife Sally; son Mason; mother Thelma Kurz; sisters, Linda (Peter) Hume and Tracy (Chaz) Green; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Ernest "Red" Kurz. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Monday, January 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg.
