Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID REUBEN GEORGE LAWSON At the age of 81, and in the company of his family, Dave passed away on January 1, 2004. Dave was predeceased by his wife Anne in April of 2002, and in November of 2002, by his sister Marion (John) Warner in England. He is survived by his two sons, Michael and Andrew (Melanie), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Born in Greenwich, England on September 2, 1922, Dave served as an RAF Navigator in Bomber Command during the Second World War. While conducting his flight training at Portage la Prairie, he met his future wife, Anne Park. Dave and Anne were married in England on December 8, 1947. In 1953 the couple returned to Canada and soon resided in West St. Paul to raise their family. From the time he was a young man, Dave wanted to be a teacher. He received his Teachers Certificate from the University of London on August 13, 1947. In 1954, Dave was accepted as a teacher at Norwood Collegiate (Nelson McIntyre) and became the Vice Principal in 1967. In 1970 he accepted the position of Principal at H. L. Softley School, where he worked until his retirement in 1977. Most important to Dave though was his family, and many happy times were had working in the garden, fishing at the lake and evening card games in front of the fireplace. Cremation has taken place, no service to follow. Donations, in lieu of flowers can be made to a charity of your choice. Dear child divine, Sweet brother mine Be with me all the day And when the light has turned to night Be with me still I pray where ere I be be thou with me And never go away.
