Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILIPPE VINCENT 1914 - 2004 Philippe Vincent went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at the age of 89. Philippe was born June 5, 1914. He leaves behind a strong legacy of hard work, love, generosity, and devotion to his wife, stepchildren and grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by those who knew him, as a man of honour, deeply devoted to those he loved, and above all a selfless hard working man. Philippe was predeceased by his parents, Fortunat Vincent and Marie-Louise; (Papineau) five brothers; and five sisters; and his beloved wife of 34 years, Denise Marie Vincent (Wilcott). Remaining to cherish Philippes memories are his stepchildren, Adrien (Joanne), Rose (Victor) Vincent, Marguerite St Godard, Aline (Gordon) Eisener, Henry, Therese (Ed) Van Humbeck, Odile (Gilles) Dube, 13 stepgrandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Bella (Art) Kemball and Jeanne St Croix; and brother Victor Vincent. Philippe was raised on a farm in St George, MB, and spent most of his life in the area. The sixth child of a family of 14, he worked on the farm with his father and other family members until he joined the army in 1942. After the war, Philippe bought a farm. He cultivated the land in summer and worked as a woodcutter in winter. Philippe was a lover of nature who greatly admired wildlife. At the age of 54, Philippe married Denise Vincent. She had seven grown up children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He instantly won the hearts and respect of all of Denises family. Philippe continued to farm with his wife for a few years. Afterwards, he sold his land and farm equipment and worked for the Hudson Bay Co. until his retirement at the age of 65. Together Philippe and his wife built a cottage at Albert Beach and travelled to Europe, the United States and Canada. The couple took pride in working. They loved farming, berry picking, gardening and preparing a hearty meal. In January of 2003, Philippe moved to Foyer Valade in St.Vital to be with his wife Denise. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Foyer Valade who lovingly cared for our father during the last year of his life. If so desired, donations may be made in his memory to Foyer Valade, 450 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4, or to a charity of choice. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 9 at St. Georges Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Rejean Belanger officiating, assisted by Victor St. Croix, deacon. Public viewing and prayers will be at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The service will be followed by a reception in the church hall. Philippe etait un homme de foi qui aimait donner et rendre service. Toute sa vie, il demeura un homme paisible, un homme dune grande gentillesse, toujours reconnaissant du moindre geste bienfaisant. Il etait reconnu pour son accueil chaleureux, sa generosite et son devouement a sa famille. Philippe demeurera une inspiration pour tous ceux qui lont connu. Philippe est ne le quatorze juin, 1914 a St-Georges. Il etait le sixieme dune famille de quatorze enfants. Philippe travailla sur la ferme avec son pere jusqua son entree dans larmee canadienne en 1942. A son retour de la guerre, il sacheta une ferme agricole quil cultiva plusieurs annees. En hiver, il travailla comme bucheron. Homme de la nature, il savait admirer la faune et la flore. A lage de cinquante-quatre ans, il epousa Denise Vincent. Il fut chaleureusement accueilli par la famille de Denise. Quelques annees apres son mariage, Philippe vendit ses terres et machines agricoles, et alla travailler au magasin de la Baie dHudson jusqua sa retraite a lage de soixante-cinq ans. Entre-temps, Philippe et son epouse construisirent un chalet a la plage Albert. Par la suite, ils firent des voyages en Europe, aux Etats Unis et au Canada. Le couple aimait travailler ensemble a plusieurs taches: cueillir des fruits sauvages, jardiner et faire la cuisine. Philippe alla rejoindre son epouse au Foyer Valade en janvier, 2003. La famille desire remercier le personnel du Foyer Valade pour les bons soins accordes a Philippe depuis ce temps. Leur compassion fut appreciee. Ceux qui le desirent peuvent faire un don au Foyer Valade, 450 River Road ou autre charite de leur choix. La messe de la Resurrection aura lieu a leglise de Saint-Georges le vendredi 9 janvier, 2004 a 14h30 (prieres a 14h00). Elle sera presidee par monsieur labbe Rejean Belanger et assiste par Victor St. Croix - diacre. Linhumation des cendres aura lieu a une date ulterieure au cimetiere de Saint-Georges. Adieu cher papa, cher grand-papa. We will miss you!
