WENDELL THORARINN DAHL WAGN On Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at the age of 48, Wendell Wagn succumbed at last to the cancer he fought valiantly for almost two years. He leaves behind his wife of over 21 years, Haanita, and his three children, Adam, Brendan and Lauren, in addition to his mother, Thora Wagn; brother John Wagn; sister Jo-Ann Meijer; nephews, Stephen, Sean and Scott and niece Samantha. He is also survived by his father, Gordon Wagn, who currently lives in BC and his in-laws, (Fran and Al Kogan and sisters-in-law, Robin, Zoe and Lizabeth, plus assorted nieces and nephews) who all dearly loved him as a son and a big brother, even if hed arrived in the family full-grown. An Army brat who had lived around the world and thrived on new surroundings, Wendell nonetheless settled in the staid environs of St. James and Crestview to raise his family (and to placate his wife, who had never lived anywhere else). He worked as a computer programmer consultant for Mancomit International since 1999, the entire time onsite at the Canadian Wheat Board. Wendell loved many things in his life, including holding babies, fishing, old union songs, the Blues and the Winnipeg Folk Festival, but he had always counted his children as the single most important thing in his life, and his greatest accomplishment. He was a wonderful father, and a beloved husband who will be missed always. A memorial service to celebrate Wendells life will be held at the Neil Bardal Funeral Chapel, 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street) on Wednesday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favourite charity, or to CancerCare Manitoba, in hopes that we will one day finally vanquish this disease that has taken so many of our loved ones so tragically before their time.
