Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN DANCHUK (nee SEMLER) On January 6, 2004, Helen Danchuk, age 87 years, passed away at Victoria Hospital. Helen was born in New Leipzig, ND on March 8, 1916 to Albert and Caroline (Krause) Semler. That same year, her parents, sister Annie, brother Edward and she moved from Miles City, Montana to Fox Valley, SK to farm. In 1921, the family moved to Cuba, where they planned to farm some inherited land. They disliked it intensely and returned to USA after six weeks and ultimately back to Fox Valley, where they farmed till 1927, when they moved to Watson, SK. Helen went to Rose Bush School. In 1930, the family moved to the Green Meadow School District. In 1941 Helen married Joe Pasareno and moved to Laurier, MB, where they farmed until his death in 1953. She then went to Winnipeg and married John Danchuk in 1954. They moved to The Home for the Deaf in 1976, and John died in 1978. They had no children. She stayed on at the Deaf Centre. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Edward. She is survived by her sisters, Annie Winnig on Vancouver Island, Agnes Stogner and Irene Laurence of Bakersfield, CA; four nephews, Richard Winnig Jr., Dale and Donald Stogner and David Laurence; three nieces, Linda Timcke, Anne Beckett and Carolyn Laurence; plus several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her friend, Agatha Wood of Winnipeg, who was a tremendous help over the years. We are grateful to her and want her to know how much we appreciate her efforts with all she did for Helen. According to Helens wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Interment will take place in Watson, SK. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
