ROY GENE NIZALIK "The Count" October 29, 1929 - December 24, 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Roy Gene, aged 74 years, at his residence in Calgary. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his ex-wife Bonnie of Vancouver; daughters, Melody of Vancouver, Elizabeth of Ottawa; sons, Christopher (Jerri) and Rodney of Calgary; granddaughter Dallas and grandson Jesse of Calgary; and Sophia Grace of Ottawa; Roys sisters, Marlene Miller, Victoria Latocki of Winnipeg; many nieces and nephews; also a dear friend Laura Perrault of Calgary. Roy was predeceased by his father William in 1955; his mother Caroline in 2000; and baby Mary Elizabeth at birth. Roy was born in Winnipeg. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in civil engineering in 1955. He loved music and had his own band for many years. He enjoyed and loved his family and friends dearly. During his professional life he was employed by AMFAB - Products, head office in Vancouver. He was also employed by Portland Cement, head office in Chicago. They were involved in highway construction, Reid Crowther & Partners. In 1980 Roy was transferred to Calgary where he was involved in implementing LRT rail transportation. He was a member of the Business Mens Association of Winnipeg, president of the Polish Business Association, and he was also involved in the building of St. Johns Cantius Church and was elector of both St. Johns Cantius Church and St. Anthonys Church. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at the St. Johns Cantius Church at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Henryk Uczniak officiating. At Roys request, cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at the Holy Ghost Cemetery.
