JOAN K. EDWARDS Joan was born and raised in England where she trained as a physiotherapist. She visited Canada, working for a short time in Toronto, then immigrated to Winnipeg in 1959. Joan was employed by the newly built Manitoba Rehabilitation Hospital to establish and develop the physiotherapy Department, and subsequently she became the Director of Physiotherapy for the Health Sciences Centre, a position she held until her retirement. Joan was predeceased by her parents. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her brother Colin and wife Susan; her four nephews and their families; her cousins, Veronica and husband Jim, David and wife Sheena, Gwen and their families; as well as close friends both in Canada and England. To the staff of the Victoria Hospital, Dr. Heidenrich, the home care staff, and all those other special people who have made these past years more comfortable and enjoyable for Joan, thank you so very much, for all your loving care and concern. Joan was a wonderful person, with a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ, it was a joy and privilege to be part of her life, and we have cherished memories which help to ease the pain of our loss. A service of Thanksgiving for Joans life will be held on Monday, January 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Church, 256 Smith St., with the Rev. Robin Mather officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or the Scripture Union, 1885 Clements Rd., Pickering, ON L1W 3V4.
