Mykola was born the oldest of a family of six on January 3, 1921 in selo Tyre, Lvivska Oblast, Ukraine. During the Second World War, as a young man taken to forced labour in Germany. Following the War, he met Nadia Stepura and they were married in Dortmund, Germany in 1945. Emigrating to Manchester, England in 1947, their son Roman was born in 1949. Together the young family emigrated to Canada in 1952 to seek a better life, settling in Winnipeg. That year Mykola becomes employed by Canada Packers in the Maintenance Department where he worked for 32 years until his retirement. Several years later, in 1961 they have a daughter, Bohdanna. Mykola was a hard working, kind, generous, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who above all else placed the needs of his family first and was there to help whenever he could. Committed to his family and proud of his Ukrainian heritage, he instilled these roots in his family. He was a member of Sts.
