Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN STEPHEN (STEVE) IVANISKI After a well lived life our beloved husband, father and papa passed away at the aged of 69 years on January 11, 2004. John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pauline; his children Gaeten, Eugene and Charlene (Shane) his dearly loved grandsons, Travis and Jesse and adopted granddaughter Ashley. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Ivaniski; in laws Jim and Gladys Johnston; granddaughter Leah; sister Olga and sister-in-law Connie. Born on April 9th, 1934 in Gypsumville, MB, John started working at 14 years of age in farming and construction, which included traveling to Niagra Falls and Toronto. He also commercial fished on Lake Winnipeg. While working on the Floodway in 1964, Steve met and married Pauline. He worked for Comstock on the transmission hydro lines from Gillam to Rosser and the hydro lines from Maitoba to Atikokan, Ont. Steve and Pauline moved to Selkirk in the fall of 1970. He worked for Manitoba Hydro until he retired in 1994. After only a few months of retirement he went to work for the Selkirk Mental Health Centre until the time of his passing. Steve will be missed by his brothers, Les (Loretta), Nick (Ruth), Walter (Betty) sisters, Marvel (Dan), Dorothy (Alex), Janet, Olga (Bert), Vi (Ron) sister-in-laws Gert (Ian), Lavina (Barrie), Joyce (Jim) brother-in-law Hellar; uncles, Bill and Mike Glucky and aunts Pearl (Jean) Neron, Rubina Einarson, Ellen Einarson, Evelyn (Eigill) Johnson and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Pallbearers are his nephews Bob Obsnuk, Allan Prychitka, Sergeant Larry Lavallee, Garnet Gillespie, James Gordon and friends Dennis Karatchuk and Scott Robertson. Honorary pallbearers are Barrie Gillespie, Jim Gordon, Dave McLennan, Karen Crozier, Garry and Debbie Frykas, Ian McKinnon, Eugene Syrotiuk, Bill and Barbara Karatchuk, Ralph Thomas and Billie Fisher. Prayers will be held on Sunday, January 18 at 7:00 pm. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 19 at 11:00 am. in the Good Shepherd Church, 6088 PTH 9A, Selkirk, MB, with Mr. L. Barth officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Clements Cemetery, Mapleton, MB. A heartfelt thanks you to Dave McLennan, Barry Gillespie, Signature Vacations and Sky Service Airlines. A heart of gold stopped beating, hard working hands went to rest, God took you home to prove to us, He only takes the best. You were always there when we needed you.
