Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEOFFREY HORACE GEORGE HEAL After a life well lived, Geoff died peacefully in his home on Monday, January 12, 2004. Born on June 2, 1926 in Chilliwack, BC, Geoff was the third son of Stephen and Gertrude Heal. He spent his youth in Rosedale and then Armstrong, BC, where his father started the B.C. Pea Growers Limited (BCP) in 1936. After obtaining his bachelors degree in Agriculture at the University of British Columbia, he joined the familys milling business. In the early 50s, he and his brother Jack started the mill in Portage la Prairie. The business remains in family hands as Best Cooking Pulses Inc. (BCP). In 1956, Geoff married Isobel Cook of High Bluff and together they had three daughters, Trudy, Margaret (Peter Hughes) and Annette. There are two grandsons, Samuel Geoffrey Hughes and Robert Edward Hughes. Geoff enjoyed a large extended family, living mainly in western Canada. Since his retirement two years ago, Geoff received many visits and frequent correspondence from his daughters and son-in-law; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. He believed these relationships were the most important thing in his life. Rather than flowers or charitable donations, it would please him more for the people in his life simply to take a friend to lunch. In accordance with his wishes, his family will honour him privately. No funeral service will be held. Friends and relatives are invited to a drop-in reception to honour Geoffs life at the St. Marys Anglican Church hall at 36 - 2nd Street SW in Portage la Prairie between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 17. Arrangements are by Ronald Moffit Memorial Services - 1 (204) 856-3487. \r
