Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIE HOLUNGA Mr. Willie Holunga of Taber, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Rose Holunga, passed away in Lethbridge on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Willie was born near Roblin, MB on December 25, 1919 where he was raised. He married his wife Rose in 1941 and they farmed in the Roblin area. They moved to the Snow Lake Area in 1955 where he worked as a hard rock miner. Willie was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and enjoyed softball, hockey and playing cards, especially whist and crib. Willie was well know for his smoked fish. In 1993 he was predeceased by his wife Rose and in May of 2001 he moved to Taber to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law Iris and Tom Nielsen. Willie is survived by his three children, Patrick (Joan) Holunga of Snow Lake, MB, Carl (Kay) Holunga of Pharr, Texas and Iris (Tom) Nielsen of Taber; grandchildren, Valerie (Phil) Rivard of Calgary, Shane (Julie) Holunga of Boston, Massachusetts, Jennifer (Rory) Monteith of Saskatoon, Cari Ann Holunga of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Lance, Laurence and Landon Nielsen of Taber; great-grandchildren, Zachary Rivard and Elias Holunga; brothers and sisters, Nick (Phyllis) Holunga of Winnipeg, John Hollinger of Winnipeg, Mary Pitz of Russell, MB, Winnie (Bill) Woroniuk of Winnipeg, Betty Guenther of Winnipeg and Gina (Bernie) Rice of Abbotsford, BC. He was predeceased by his wife Rose; brothers, George and Alfred and sister Vera Sadoway. Relatives and friends met with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber on Wednesday, January 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the Snow Lake Elks Hall, Snow Lake, MB on Saturday, January 17 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Snow Lake Cemetery.
