GERALD E. LUSSIER Peacefully, on January 13, 2004, Gerald passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 71 years. Gerald is survived by his loving wife June; six children, Joan (Dave) Baines, Lawrence (Christine), Carol Ann, Tom (Andree), Kathleen and Laura (Dennis) Campbell; ten grandchildren, Gillian, Donald, Megan, Veronica, Laura, Daniel, Martin, Ben, Scott and Mark; sister-in-law Gladys Lussier; brother-in-law Tiny Douville; sister-in-law Shirley (Vince) Cody and brother-in-law Cliff (Toni) Ducklow. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Raymond and his sister Blanche Douville. Gerald was born on March 5, 1932 at Oakburn, MB to Romeo and Mae Lussier. He married his high school sweetheart, June, on September 5, 1953. Gerald graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1952 and worked as a chemist for Burns Meats for nine years then moved to Shell Canada Ltd. He spent the remainder of his professional life as a pharmaceutical service representative for Ciba/Geigy Pharmaceuticals (Novartis). He belonged to the Knights of Columbus for many years. Gerald was a former Grand Knight of the Norwood Council. On December 10, 1976, Gerald was ordained as the first permanent deacon of the Archdiocese of St. Boniface. He served faithfully at St. Gerard Parish, Our Lady of Peace, St. Michaels at Cooks Creek and Anola and Beausejour. He retired from active deaconate ministry because of ill health but continued to serve in Christian ministries at St. Timothy Parish. Gerry loved playing piano, singing, bowling, reading, fishing on holidays at Greenwater Lake and dining with friends. Gerry especially loved all family gatherings. He was also an avid sports fan especially of the Blue Bombers. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 16 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd., with the Funeral Liturgy commencing at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Father Raymond Baudry officiating. His six grandsons will serve as pallbearers. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
