KATHLEEN MARY ISABEL NEVILLE (nee WALLIS) Peacefully on January 12, 2004 (aged 96) at Riverview Health Centre where she had been a resident since November of 1997. Kathleen was born in England October 30, 1907. Her father was killed during the first few days of the First World War. After a time her mother married Thomas Gargan. The family consisting of Kathleen (Kath), Edward (Ted), Albert (Bert) and half-brother Reginald (Reg) emigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1919. Kath worked for the Hudsons Bay Company for many years. She also worked for Office Overload until June 1967 where she made several friends who maintained contact with her over the years. She appreciated the many cards, letters, phone calls and visits she received from them and their spouses. Kath met the love of her life, Stanley Neville, and after a lengthy courtship they were married on October 2, 1937. They enjoyed going to their cottage at Nutimik Lake (along with their dog Brownie) for many years and it was with great sadness that she lost Stanley to cancer on March 9, 1974. Kath was also predeceased by her mother Harriet in March 1977, by her brother Bert in March 1987 and her brother Reg in March 1994. She leaves to mourn her passing brother Ted (Frances) of Minneapolis and their two daughters Janet (Bob) and Andrea (John) Berts son Ted (June) and daughter Merle; Regs sons Wade and Dan (Laurel) and daughter Bonnie plus numerous nieces and nephews. While at Riverview she met Leo Berney with whom she developed a deep and caring relationship until his death in November 2001. Having spent many happy hours together she missed him very much. Kath was a private person who made a life for herself after Stanley passed away. She would take the bus several times a week to Polo Park where she loved to browse and shop. In later years, however, her failing eyesight and then deafness made her life more restricted but she still liked to hear from friends and relatives and enjoyed the letters, cards, phone calls and visits she received over the years. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Riverview for their patient care and attention during her years in that facility. Services will be held Monday, January 19, at Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date at Brookside Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Stanley. Flowers are gratefully declined, however, should friends so desire, donations may be made in Kaths memory to the charity of ones choice.
