BERNARD PAULHUS 1964 - 2004 It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. On Tuesday, January 13, with his wife and family at his side, Bernard went to rest after a long and well-fought battle. He was incredibly loved and will be desperately missed by his loving wife, Laurie; parents, Marie-Louise and Stephen; siblings, Marguerite (Brent), Claudette (Mike, Michael and Stephen), Daniel, Denis (Sharon, Adam - Bernards godson, and Brittany), Jacqueline (Carlos, Nicholas and Alexander), Rosemarie (Miles, Christin, Mark and Brady), and Nicole (Ken) in-laws, Arlene and Brian, and Don (Darlene, Sarah and Laura) goddaughter, Jordan; and countless family and friends. Bernard was born in Regina and moved to Winnipeg at an early age, where he grew up in Heritage Park. He always loved camping, family trips, and the family hobby of practical jokes. He was a hard worker, even as a kid. He graduated from Graphic Arts at Sturgeon Creek Collegiate and continued in that profession throughout his life. He made many good friends at each place he worked, earning both liking and respect for his personality and work ethic. Always meticulous, any friend or relative would immediately know any space that was Bernards by how neat and organized it was. Although he had a house in Winnipeg, Bernards home was at the lake. That was where he was married, and where he enjoyed playing host to his friends and building fires that will be talked about for years to come. His favourite toy was his sled, and when he wasnt out riding it, he was talking about it. It was pretty rare to find a weekend, any season of the year, that Bernard wasnt packed and on the way out to the lake straight from work on Friday. Bernard was a one-of-a-kind who could find a friend in any person that he met. His infectious enjoyment of life shone through in everything he did and sparked the same pleasure in others. He was the big kid who all of the other kids (big and little) loved to play with, and he always had toys and treats to make anything more fun. Bernards last year had a lot of days spent at CancerCare, and wed like to thank all of the nurses and doctors there. We were fortunate to find not just caregivers, but friends as well. His last days were spent on the GD-6 ward at the Health Sciences Centre and we cannot say enough about the incredible care given to Bernard and the entire family while we were there. We will always have a space in our hearts for those special people who looked after us so well. Bernard - may you find peace in a happy place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Bernards memory to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Heart and Lung Association. A memorial service will be held at John XXIII, Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Ave. today, Friday, January 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m., Fr. Bouffard presiding. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
